Hello! I’m so glad you’re here. I strive to make my practice space a safe, calm, and healing environment, accessible to everyone. This is a trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ safe space, please enter and feel welcomed.
I live in Freeland with my husband Derek and our 3 pandemic kitties. Our beautiful children are all grown and have scattered to Colorado, Oregon and Washington, and we are enjoying our smaller-nest years. I love to be outside in nature, garden, cook, create fiber art, enjoy music, hike and read. Whidbey Island is truly the most beautiful and healing place I have ever lived and I’m so grateful to call this place home.
After experiencing a debilitating autoimmune diagnosis as a young adult, I discovered the multi-faceted healing benefits of massage therapy, and I continue to be astounded by the many health benefits of quality bodywork for all stages of life. This health crisis led me down a long and enriching path of learning about the body, our food, our environment and how all of that interacts with our nervous systems and mental and physical health.
A decade after adopting a plant-based diet and honing my culinary skills, I became a Certified Holistic Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, with an additional 8-week plant-based program through Cornell University. I still very much enjoy creating food and focusing on local, sustainable eating. During this period in my life I was also very focused on yoga and the healing power of movement as I was directly experiencing the benefits on a daily basis.
When my children were in middle school, I returned to the classroom to complete a rigorous 12-month massage therapy program at East West College of the Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon. I had found my calling and knew it immediately. I couldn’t get enough of kinesiology, kinetic movement, anatomy, pathology and learning all about how our bodies work and store the events of our lives in our tissues. We literally become our physical, mental and emotional experiences. It is my belief, and many studies show, that massage and bodywork can help us process our experiences and reduce the corresponding inflammatory changes that come with stress, injury, age and the repetitive movements of daily LIFE, to extend our longevity and give us a greater quality of life. I love being the facilitator of that kind of healing.
With years of experience in Swedish relaxation, deep tissue therapy, neuromuscular trigger point therapy/proprioceptive facilitation, myofascial release, MLD, Tui Na techniques and Pre & Perinatal certification, I can customize treatment sessions for a wide variety of injuries, chronic pain and stressors of daily life. I am additionally trained in Reiki, cupping, gua sha, and hot stones and I love to include those wonderful extras to make all treatments relaxing and as individual as each human being.
I am also a Certified Lymphatic Therapist through the Academy of Lymphatic Studies, and can treat all aspects of Lymphedema including education/exercises, Manual Lymphatic Drainage/Decongestive Therapy, bandaging and compression fitting.
I look forward to sharing healing space with you.
In infinite gratitude – Kristi
